Typically, lessons include the following: Each violin lesson is tailored individually, taking into account age, experience, personality, and learning style.Įvery student is different therefore there is no one method or strategy that will work universally. In every lesson we will work on technique (this will include posture, scales, sound production, vibrato, etudes, etc.) and musicality (I will choose pieces that are the right level for each student to keep them motivated but challenged). There will also be music theory and aural training. Beginners will play note reading and rhythm games and more advanced students will learn to read and write music (enabling them to compose their own pieces), sight-reading (very important if they want to join an orchestra), languages (music directions are often written in Italian or German) and identification of different musical periods. I expect all my students to practise from one lesson to the next, and set clear and realistic goals and emphasize the importance of practicing efficiently (it’s not about how long you practise but how you practise). I will show the students what to listen for, transforming them into their own teacher. Lessons are offered in English and Spanish. Hello, my name is Lidia Palomo, I was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, and started playing the viola at the age of 5.
